About the Artist

Well here it is. My long awaited Art Blog. I’ve been talking about it for quite some time, and today I finally just sat down and went for it. Why an art blog you might ask? Several reasons. One is to be able to share my newest stuff with my biggest fans that support me cross country these days, and to reach those people who wish they were my friend. Another is I’ve been thinking of beginning to sell my art, a terrifying thought to me, and I thought a good way to break myself into the process would be simply exposing it to my fellow bloggers. Kind of a proverbial “Hey I’m Rachel, and this is what I do” to the cyber world.

Now I’m suppose to say something about myself here I’m sure. I’m sure everyone is just dying to know all about me. My name is Rachel, I’m a twenty year old design student mulling my way through life and college. I’ve been painting for an undetermined number of years (I asked three family members there responses were as follows: Oh I don’t know 2003?, It seems like you’ve been holding up pictures for us to ohh and aww over forever, and Middle School). I am mildly self taught. I’ve now taken two drawing classes, but haven’t ventured into taking a full blown painting class. I have a problem with authority and don’t think I could live through a semester of some one telling me how to do what I do. Drawing on the other hand I have no problem being told what to do. It helped a ton with my perspective when painting. My art has always been something I’m mega personal about, for reasons undoubtedly stemming from some childhood drama, kidding people. The main reason is actually I paint when I feel. If I’m happy I paint, when I’m sad I paint, ect. So most have a strong emotional attachment for me, profound I know.

Basically I’m Rachel, and I may very well be alittlebit cooler than you.
