I found this painting on my hard-drive a few days ago and thought I could share it. The original is still MIA, but I’m pretty sure it’s still in the garage from the move…which took place over a year ago… yeah. This one was painted about 2006, one of my most productive painting years. I had just graduated from high school, and spent the summer painting and working at the flower shop. Sigh… Memories. Anyway, I always really liked this piece. It was painted at the height of my flower addiction, and I always felt it was one of my better ones. I love the vibrancy in the red lilies, and the shadowing that there petals naturally create. After a frustrating day of not getting the background right I decided to paint the arrangement up against a window. And before I knew it was raining outside of my picture. And I really liked the serene effect against the bold lilly. But oh boy can I tell this was painted prior to my drawing class on perspective! The table is a little cringe worthy, don’t look at it! Kidding, this is one I might need to retouch… When I find it that is. Just thought I’d share my little trip down past painting lane.
‘Till next time.
